Founded in 1966, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR), with it’s Self-Rescue® program, is nationally recognized as the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. With over 45 years of research and development, highly trained certified Instructors committed to safety, and a proven history of success, parents can rest assured that their children are receiving the best possible instruction in the world today.
ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 300,000 ISR graduates and over 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves.
Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.
ABOUT ISR LESSONS:
Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue® swimming program is scheduled 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for 10 minutes each day for an average of 6 weeks.
With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by certified Instructors, ISR’s survival swimming lessons emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.
Lessons for a 6-12 month old focus on teaching the child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives.
Lessons for children 1-6 years old focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.
Statics indicate that most children who fall into water are fully clothed. Therefore, once the children are fully skilled they will practice their ISR skills fully clothed.
Refresher lessons are extremely important in continuing and maintaining your child’s ISR Self-Rescue® skill development. Children grow and develop rapidly from infants to toddlers and young children. This development process represents improved strength, coordination, and a more finely tuned cognitive ability. In accordance with this growth, children enrolled in ISR return periodically to participate in Refresher Lessons.
Give your child the competence, confidence and skills of aquatic safety with Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue® program. The safest provider of survival swimming lessons for children 6 months to 6 years of age!
THE BUMP FAMILY STORY
My son completed 8 weeks of ISR training during the summer of 2010. He was just 1 year old. We went on a family vacation. One afternoon I took him to the pool at our hotel. He had a great time in the water, but then he wanted to explore the pool deck. He was just getting good at walking. He was walking next the pool, with me right behind him. He took one wrong step and fell right into the pool. I jumped in after him and just as he rolled onto his back I grabbed him. It wasn't until later that I realized he had rolled all on his own. This was just a false step, but I got to see that he really did know what to do if he fell in water.
Brad is amazing! Patient, calm and great energy.
“My daughter felt comfortable learning from him right away. She learned quickly and by the end was swimming and getting air on her own. We will be taking them again to develop her stroke and continue learning.”
We had such an amazing summer with Brad!
“Both my 2 1/2 year old and my 15 month old took ISR swim lessons with Brad. By the end of our lessons, my oldest was swimming across the pool, getting air when he needed it and getting to the side easily for safety. My 15 month old was able to turn onto his back and float in order to get air and also orient himself to the side/step then swim/kick there to get to safety!”
Brad is possibly the most amazing teacher ever, period.
“From day 1, he was able to make my son feel so comfortable. Within a few days, my son was already making significant progress, and was beginning to swim by the end of the first week. By the end of the six weeks, my son who was terrified of the water before is swimming across the pool.”
We LOVED our experience with Brad at my baby swims and ISR.
“The method of teaching babies and toddlers to swim is so amazing, and the results are nothing short of astounding. Our children are having so much fun in the water, and we feel so safe knowing that they have the skills to help themselves should an unthinkable accident happen.”
